What brought you to New York?

I was a classically trained concert pianist and my dream was always to study at Juilliard School and end up here, but after auditioning, I wasn’t offered a full scholarship. I would have been 17. Instead, I landed here in 1994 as I was offered a job to run the marketing department at EMI Records. That was another dream come true and my first record industry gig.

What do you enjoy about being a member of St. George’s Society?

What I love about being a St. George’s Society member is all the interesting people that I’ve met. In my industry it’s very hard to network outside of it as I feel we live in a bubble and it’s a very taxing life. The GEORGE events can take the edge off. There’s always a good laugh, fun activities and the best part is – the charitable angle. It feels good to know that when I’m participating, I’m donating to a valuable cause and one that I have great deal of compassion for.

What is your favorite New York place or pastime?

I have a few favorite places and haunts. A couple are in my neighborhood. I love Saraghina, a great Italian spot. Brunswick Café is where I start my ritual almost every morning as they make one of the best Latte’s ever!

I often visit The Whitney Museum and spent a great deal of my Summer on the patio of their restaurant ‘Untitled’ with a nice glass of Sancerre.

I also love The Roof at the Viceroy Hotel and drinks at the Park Hyatt on 57th St. I can’t forget Sixty Five Bar – crazy expensive drinks but worth it for the to die for views.

Oh can I add one more? Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. I’ve been known to do a bit of reflecting and meditation there. Solace in this 24/7 city is crucial!

What brought you to New York?

You’ve heard of the American Dream, well it’s the British Dream that brought me to New York City.  Sounds cliché but the bright lights and the big city were calling me and, as someone who’s always been intrigued by US entertainment, media and pop culture, I answered the call.  Now I’m lucky enough to be making an impact in this world myself and I’m loving every second of it!

What do you enjoy about being a member of St. George’s Society?

I’ve met some truly amazing people through St. George’s and GEORGE – all doing their thing in NYC – and the best part is they’re fellow Brits.  We get to bond over pub nights and glamorous galas and it’s all for a great cause.

What is your favorite New York place or pastime?

I love Brooklyn, which is where I live.  Brooklyn has a cool, eclectic vibe to it that Europeans are drawn to.  Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Williamsburg and Dumbo are my favorite areas – they’re filled with great restaurants and bars, interesting boutiques, beautiful views, parks and so much more.
