The Sense of an Ending Screening

The Sense of an Ending, starring Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling and adapted for the screen by award-winning playwright Nick Payne, follows the story of a man who becomes haunted by his past and is presented with a mysterious legacy that causes him to re-think his current situation in life.

Historic Royal Palaces Enlightened Princesses Tour

Historic Royal Palaces are pleased to collaborate with Yale Center for British Art for a new exhibition, ‘Enlightened Princesses. Caroline, Augusta, Charlotte and the Shaping of the Modern World’. The exhibition will explore the roles played by Queen Caroline of Ansbach, Augusta, Princess of Wales, and Queen Charlotte in the promotion of the arts and sciences in 18th-century Britain. The princesses’ individual and collective interests in art, botany and gardens, natural philosophy, and medicine, as well as the education of their children, will be examined within a dramatically changing social, political and technological milieu, in association with their roles in the encouragement of the British Enlightenment.

The life if Catherine Howard, Fifth Wife of King Henry VIII

Playwright, novelist, historian and author, Gareth Russell presents a vivid and authoritative biography that sheds new light on Catherine’s rise and the forces that led to her death at the executioner’s block. In the course of his extensive research, Russell uncovered the complete text of Catherine Howard’s interrogation, which has not been published since the 18th century; he incorporates that text along with color photographs, family tree, map, and notes to give us a new understanding of one of history’s most famous women.
