One of the first students to receive a St. George’s scholarship in 2008 was Ashton Stewart, born in Hertfordshire, England.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude in June 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music.  Ashton is now the Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of the City of New York and is dedicated to working for a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government.

2010 scholarship recipient Jason Mighty from Jamaica, West Indies, is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society which recognizes outstanding academic achievement. He is involved with research in Lehman’s Biology Department searching for a cure for eye diseases as well as researching the use of botanical medicines to inhabit growth of cancer cells. Jason recently entered a Ph.D. program at CUNY Graduate Center. “I am truly grateful to St. George’s for helping me move closer to making my ambition a reality.

One of the Society’s most recent scholars, Keren Minto is a Macaulay Honors College student of Canadian decent majoring in Music. For the past two years, she has played with the New York Youth Symphony which has exposed her to a high level of professionalism and given her the opportunity to use her training and grow as a musician. Keren has a vision of bringing fresh life and a new direction to an industry with boundless potential.
