Team SGSNY vs NYC

Few things would inspire us to do exercise on a Saturday morning. However, for St. George’s Society, we make an exception.

This Saturday, we will be leading a team of enthusiastic Mountbatten interns through the trials and tribulations of New York's toughest obstacle course, the NYC City Challenge all to raise funds for St. George's Society.

#TeamSGSNY will be jumping over police cars and crawling through mud immensely exciting.  Training began in June, and the (much-needed!) support from family, friends and St. George's members has been phenomenal.

The Mountbatten Committee’s enthusiasm has been incredible, and we have a 16-strong team taking part. I’ve organized a number of fundraising events in London, but this is certainly the most physically demanding one I’ve been involved with to date!

The team is dedicated to raising funds for St. George’s charitable programs, and we are honored to be a part of such a meaningful cause. #TeamSGSNY is fast-approaching our $5000 target, and these funds will go directly to improving the lives of New York’s most needy. The charity enriches the lives of the young and the old, by preventing homelessness, providing hope and supporting academic dreams.

This is the first large-scale event I have been part of, and I'm really looking forward to it. I know I have worked hard in many areas leading up to the event - from training to reaching out to family and friends who are British or have a Commonwealth background, to support a cause I personally can relate to.

We know this challenge is going to be tough. Some members of the team are more experienced runners than others, but we will support one another through each and every hurdle, ensuring that everyone reaches the finish line.

We are hugely grateful for all the support we have received, and are looking forward to tackling Randall’s Island’s obstacle course on Saturday (and the well-deserved beer afterwards!).
