SGSNY DJ Party Session for Alice

Last week, SGSNY hosted its first ever DJ Party with Society member Trish Mann, aka DJ Misbehaviour, and ten-year-old Alice who came to SGSNY through our Weatherstone Families Support Fund. Trish is a long-time DJ who frequently headlines SGSNY’s larger events. She provided Alice with an hour-long private lesson that featured her and her family’s favorite songs, including hits from ACDC, Taylor Swift, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. During the lesson, Alice became ‘DJ Spy’ while SGSNY Program Coordinator Katie provided backup DJ support and shared some epic dance moves.

Alice is in the second year of a three-year-long cancer vaccine trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering. SGSNY ensures that families who travel from the UK to NYC for neuroblastoma treatment receive ample emotional and logistical support when they are far from home.

Alice thoroughly enjoyed the recent lesson and will continue to practice so she can play at her older sister’s upcoming birthday party. We’re so excited to see Alice and her family in the months to come, and look forward to watching her continue to spin the decks. Go Alice!
