1786 Circle

Invest in college students on their journey to success. Make a difference in your community.

In the United States, the overall dropout rate for undergraduate college students is 40%.*

These students—largely low-income, first-generation and students of color—are forced to delay or discontinue their academic pursuits due to the increasingly prohibitive cost of college. They are often responsible for supporting their families and despite their best efforts, balancing school, family and work is a major challenge.

At St. George’s Society of New York, our goal is to close the education and opportunity gap for these students from under-resourced communities.

We know that higher education serves as an engine for social and economic mobility. By removing financial barriers, we can ensure that these high-achieving students can focus on their studies, reach graduation and take the next step towards achieving their professional goals.

SGSNY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Since 2008, St. George’s Society of New York’s Scholarship Program has provided critical financial aid to remarkable students in their final year of undergraduate studies.

We have served more than 400 scholars—first at Lehman and Hunter Colleges, and now at City University of New York (CUNY) institutions across all five boroughs of New York City. With a completion rate of 98%, these extraordinary individuals have gone on to pursue careers in a variety of fields including medicine, education, social work, finance and tech. Many of our scholars remain closely tied to their communities, giving back in their own ways.

Our assistance goes far beyond graduation—including invaluable enrichment opportunities such as mentoring and career development workshops, which help to bridge the divide between college and employment.
