New York, NY (November 2020) -- St. George’s Society of New York (SGSNY), one of the oldest charities in the United States, will celebrate its 250-year commitment to service and community at its annual gala on Thursday, December 3, 2020, which due to COVID-19, will be a virtual experience.

Attendees will hear from the Anglo-American Cultural Award honoree—Zanna Roberts Rassi, the Emmy Award-winning fashion and beauty journalist, Co-Founder of Milk Makeup, Fashion-Editor-at-Large for Marie Claire, E! News fashion correspondent, NBC Today Show fashion contributor, and Target Stylist

“I’m thrilled to be a be a part of the British Bash,” said Roberts Rassi. “As both a Brit and a longtime New Yorker, it’s an honor to be teaming up with this deep-rooted charity that has helped and inspired so many in NYC—especially during these unprecedented times.”

Guests will also be treated to special musical performances by the quintessential Englishman in New York, Sting, and up-and-coming British artist, Jake Isaac recently featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert along with a few surprise celebrity guest appearances.

Typically a celebration of “the best of British in NYC,” this year’s event will pay tribute to the people and partners who have made SGSNY’s work possible over the course of its storied history as well as during this unprecedented year. In response to the pandemic, SGSNY expanded its programming by delivering over 6,000 meals to vulnerable and isolated seniors and supplied personal protective equipment to Tri-State area hospital workers. Additionally, SGSNY provided mentoring services to recent CUNY graduates across all five boroughs entering an uncertain job market and continued to look after families coming to New York with their children for life-saving cancer treatment.

“While we expected this milestone year to be somewhat different, the pandemic has reinforced that our mission is just as necessary today as it was when we were founded in 1770,” said Executive Director, Clare Risman. “As we continue under our new reality, we’re determined not to let this milestone anniversary slip by without a proper celebration and toast to a brighter future for our resilient community.”

The gala will also feature an online silent auction open to the public beginning November 30. While there is no ticket purchase necessary to take part in the online auction, tickets for the virtual gala will be available for purchase in two categories: $100 for a “Knight of the Big Apple” ticket and recognition during the event or $25 to attend the virtual gala and receive the virtual party pack.
