Delivering hope and kindness | Responding to the Coronavirus
St. George’s Society continues to do all we can to adjust to the ever-changing news regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). We have been overwhelmed by the kind and generous response from our community during this difficult time and would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for your continued support of our important mission.
In anticipation of the state-wide quarantine protocols, we delivered care packages of food and supplies to our most isolated beneficiaries. Each care package contained provisions that will last for two to three weeks. We are enormously grateful to our wonderful social worker, Julie Rosenberg LMSW, who purchased, assembled and delivered this crucial assistance. We are continually evaluating our seniors’ care and well-being and developing protocols for maintaining support while the statewide stay-at-home mandate is in place.
We have also developed a Phone Pal program, pairing elderly beneficiaries with volunteers as "pals" to provide regular check-in calls and companionship. A phone call from a friendly voice makes a world of difference to isolated seniors during these stressful times. If you are interested in volunteering as a Phone Pal, please contact Eliane Abou-Assi at eliane@stgeorgessociety.org.
St. George’s Society continues to monitor the minute-by-minute changes that our city, state, and country are undergoing. We appreciate all the ways you are supporting our efforts from near and far, ensuring that our beneficiaries get the care, comfort and kindness they need during this uncertain time.
St. George’s Society has a long history of rising to the challenge – from world wars and the Great Depression to 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy. Our work continues. Please be a part of our effort by giving what you can when you can.
As we look at the days and weeks ahead, we do so with hope and gratitude for our wonderful community.
