This summer, Lehman College hosted a special reception celebrating its 10-year partnership with the Society through the Scholarship Program. The event welcomed leaders from both the St George’s Society and Lehman communities.
Scholarship Recipients Selected For 2018/19 Year
Thanks to funds raised at this year's English Ball, the Society awarded 36 scholarships totaling $149,880 to final-year students at Lehman and Hunter Colleges for the 2018/19 academic year.
Meet Ahmed
When Ahmed immigrated from Ghana to New York, he saw it as an opportunity to pursue his dream of studying medicine. His scholarship from St. George’s Society gave him the reassurance and confidence to continue his journey to become an orthopedic surgeon.
2018 English Ball Sets Fundraising Record
St. George's Society hosted its annual gala, the English Ball, on St. George's Day at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, we raised a record-breaking $151,776 on the night for the Society’s Scholarship Program.
Meet Natalie
In Natalie’s home country of Jamaica, college was just a dream but after immigrating to America, it became a reality. Thanks to the St. George’s Society scholarship, Natalie will graduate with her BA in Biology in May–putting her one step closer to her lifelong ambition to become a doctor.

Meet Fiona
Balancing school with two jobs as a research assistant and patient care technician, Fiona is one of the first people in her family to attend university. Thanks to her scholarship, Fiona graduated in June 2017.

Esthelle's Story
A Biology major, Esthelle was awarded a St. George’s Society Scholarship in July 2016. Passionate about helping low-income students succeed in the classroom, she hopes to one day to launch an organization that provides access to good quality education and mentoring for less fortunate children.
