We were thrilled to host an event alongside our new partner, That Suits You, for our 2024 male Scholars! That Suits You is an organization that helps young people with little to no income overcome the challenge of securing professional attire as graduation approaches and they begin the job application and interview process.
Scholar Orientation 2024
This fall, we hosted our annual Scholarship Orientation at the Information Lab for our 2024-25 cohort of Scholars. We were thrilled to welcome a fantastic turnout of 22 Scholars.
Meet Kirk Persaud

Meet DeShaun
DeShaun was always expected to take the lead in his household. Lacking emotional support, DeShaun struggled in school and was on the brink of dropping out. Fortunately, he was introduced to the field of mental health and found something that he was truly passionate about.

It is graduation season, and we couldn’t be prouder of our SGSNY Class of 2022! Marking a 100% completion rate for the Scholarship Program this academic year, our 24 graduates have earned a host of distinctions and awards, and the number of postgraduate acceptance letters, scholarship awards, and employment offers continue to come in. We are delighted to welcome this esteemed group of students to our growing community of 440+ SGSNY Scholar alums!
Jamaica’s Paula Kerr-Jarrett Honored at St. George’s Society of New York’s 2021 English Ball
St. George’s Society of New York (SGSNY)—one of the oldest charities in America—awarded their 2021 Commonwealth Award to Jamaica’s Paula Kerr-Jarrett, noted Philanthropist and Social Entrepreneur in recognition of her immense contributions to the Jamaican community. The award was introduced by former Jamaican Consul General, Geneive Brown-Metzger and Sir Richard Branson, via video, at the annual English Ball on Tuesday 26th October 2021 at The Pierre in New York City.
SGSNY Welcomes 25 Students to Scholarship Program for 2021-22 Year
We are pleased to announce that 25 CUNY students from across NYC's five boroughs have been selected to receive scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year. Established in 2008, SGSNY’s Scholarship Program seeks to close the education and opportunity gap by providing critical financial aid and professional development opportunities to final-year students from historically underserved communities. This year’s cohort represents 11 Commonwealth nations and an exciting range of academic disciplines including nursing, anthropology, accounting, digital media and social work. Thank you to the donors and partners who made this year's awards possible.

St. George's Society Awards Scholarships to 24 Students for the 20/21 Academic Year
We are pleased to announce that 24 students from Lehman and Hunter Colleges will receive scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Society’s Scholarship Program serves as an engine of social mobility and equality for inspired but under-resourced students and now more than ever, they need our help. The Society Awards 44 Scholarships for 2019/20 Year
Thanks to the generosity of our Pathways Partners and this year's Fund-A-Scholar donors, the Society awarded 44 scholarships to final-year students at Lehman and Hunter Colleges for the 2019/20 academic year. These students along with scholar alumni will have the opportunity to participate in our mentoring and professional development initiatives in the fall.
